Attention Scarf Lovers

Let’s talk about my favorite winter accessory! I’m pretty sure you guessed it from the title; it’s scarves. I’m enamored with this accessory that comes in thousands of colors, patterns, fabrics and prices. This versatile piece can be worn with a variety of outfits and is forever fashionable. I make an effort to buy a couple of new scarves every year so my collection can really grow over time. Plus, scarves always fit a person no matter your age: twenties, thirties, forties and up. You can keep and wear them for a lifetime as long as you purchase a good quality.

But today we are not just talking about any scarf. We’re talking about a seriously oversized scarf. This large scarf is an essential piece for your winter wardrobe mainly because it is so warm and cozy. I guess I could have gone a little bigger for this outfit but for me this size is perfect and I don’t want it to completely cover my face. Remember, proportion is an important component when looking put together and stylish. Having fun with proportion and the size of accessories is one of the easiest ways achieve balance in an outfit.

You can notice form these photos that I kept the rest of my outfit relatively form fitting. I knew the scarf would make this look top heavy so I kept everything from the scarf down closer to the body. Much like yesterdays outfit, I stayed within the same color families. To coordinate the gray color of my scarf with the overall look I wore a long sleeve gray shirt and let the ends of my sleeves peek out of my jacket. This way, the proportions are balanced and now the colors are too. To add a bit of fun to this outfit, I completed the look with a sexy pair of leopard pumps. The pumps really impact the mood of the look. Just imagine this outfit with a pair of penny loafers, totally different feel.

Also note for the oversized winter scarf is a warm fabric, such as wool, cashmere, or pashmina. We’ll be discussing silk and jersey scarves in the spring.
