Ready for Summer Color?
Mixing Neutrals and Brights for a Summer Outfit
Neutrals are an essential part of my wardrobe and I know they have to be important to you too.
Neutrals act as the base for many outfits and they can be mixed and matched with almost anything in your closet. Think of neutrals as your blank canvas, your accessories and bright colors make the outfit a piece of art.
With summer just a couple of days away it’s time to have color and summer attire on your mind. The neutral essentials that will carry you through the summer months and the best brights that will bring some personality to your outfits.
In this outfit I wanted the cropped mustard yellow top to be the focal point so I paired it with neutrals. (Neutral shorts are a must during the summer!) The bright jeweled toned top looks great against my skin tone so I’m not worried about wearing that much color so close to my face. As a simple rule, I never wear on top half of my outfit colors that don’t compliment my skin tone. The white shorts, olive green and neutral wedges, and gold accessories compliment the shirt and bring a nice balance to the overall look.
Wedges are my favorite style of shoe to wear during the summer. They combine the sexiness of a heel with the comfort of a sandal. I love that I can wear them for hours and not have my feet killing me at the end of the day. Look forward to seeing wedges styled in a variety of ways this summer.
While I was in college I took a course on personal style and color. Throughout the semester we learned what pieces we needed to own, what fits complimented our body shapes, what to wear when and what colors looked best against our skin tone. In this course I learned a lot about color and discovering my personal style. If you’re interested in learning how to find your best colors, let me know in the comments and I can share it in a post.
