What to Wear to a Summer Farmers’ Market

A Summer Farmers’ Market Outfit
It’s summertime! Which means Farmers’ Markets!
In Old Town Clovis, California there is a certified farmers’ market every Friday during the summer. This is its 25th anniversary. I’m lucky enough to be able to enjoy the farm to table benefits of this farmers’ market ever since I moved here.
Is there a summer farmers’ market where you live? If so, what is the one thing you look forward to buying the most? I love the sweet peaches and bright red strawberries.
Because of the warm weather here, there is no way I would wear denim or pants. It’s too hot. Therefore, whenever I’m go to the farmers’ market I know I’m going to be bared legged. This means a skirt, shorts, or dress. Also, I might consider a maxi dress or skirt depending on the temperature.
For my first farmers’ market outfit of the year I wore a somewhat neutral color palette. Green, brown and orange – I feel the colors worked well for this type of outdoors event. I wanted to avoid anything too bright or too dark. The patterned top, which is actually a dress, added just enough dimension to the look to move it out of “simple and boring.” The sandals added yet another pop of color and the gold details throughout the look brought a cohesiveness to the overall summer outfit.
Style Tip: Want to move your outfit from plain to full of personality? Add some color, a pattern or fun and interesting pieces. Trade a solid blouse for a pattern, even if it’s just stripes. Instead of wearing khaki shorts go for bright green, pink or jade. Summer is the perfect time to play with color. Have fun with your summer outfits!
Let me tell you a quick little story about these shorts. I bought them from Abercrombie and Fitch while I was in college, maybe 7-8 years ago. Years of use and washing have made it the most comfortable shorts I own! They are my favorite! Peter, tells me to get rid of them, but I can’t, I won’t. I bought them with my back then best friend, and they were my go to shorts for the rest of college. It might be because of sentimental reasons but I don’t think these shorts will leave my closet until they fall apart. Do you have anything is your closet you love and probably should get rid of, but you can’t?
Let me know in the comments what you wear, or would wear, to a Farmers’ Market!
Stay Stylish,

I love how this look is neutral yet still so summery and chic! Your sandals are gorgeous too. I also love getting fresh peaches – they’re my favorite fruit without a doubt, and I’m so glad they’re in season now!

What a lovely look, I really like it. I’d wear a floral print dress to a farmers market, simple but stylish 🙂
