Why the Castle Winery in Napa is a Must Visit
Castello di Amorosa – The Castle Winery in Napa
With the hundreds of wineries in Napa Valley, it’s hard to determine which one will be lucky enough to garner your attention. Wine tasting sometimes goes beyond enjoying a taste of the latest wines, for some it has now turned into an experience. Some parents even bring their kids; it’s a family event.
These experience driven wineries are some of the most popular in Napa Valley. Not only do they give you a delicious taste of Merlot, they give you a gorgeous view of the valley or a tour of a one of a kind castle.
The castle winery in Napa Valley is one of those must-visit wineries. Castello di Amorosa is fully equipped with a moat, five towers, great hall, drawbridge, Italian ironwork and tons of other little details you have to see up close.
It was our second time visiting the castle winery in Napa. We were showing a friend from Italy around, so we had to visit all of the most popular wineries in Napa Valley. We also stopped by Sterling Vineyards, Robert Mondavi, V Sattui, and other popular wineries in the valley.
My favorite part of the castle had to be the tasting room. It looks like a cave; it’s dark and moody with wine bottles stacked all along the wine tasting room walls. You can see what I mean in the photos.
The general tasting is $20 and of course they also have lots of other options like cheese, chocolate, and charcuterie pairings. You can also have a guided tour with a staff member from the castle winery.
We opted to do the self-guided tour because we didn’t plan on staying for a long time as we were trying to see as many “best” wineries while in Napa.
As you can see from the photos, you can go all the way to the top of the castle and get a gorgeous view of surrounding vineyards.
We were lucky to have perfect weather the day we visited which made for gorgeous photos.
