Get Summer Ready With These Classic Nautical Staples
A Casual Nautical Inspired Outfit
Memorial Day, the mark of summers arrival. It’s time to bring out your summer wardrobe for road trips, beaches and boating.
Stripes, boat shoes, and other nautical inspired pieces are beginning to shine through everyone’s outfits.
As some of you might be hitting the deck, of a boat, let’s talk about two summer staples that you will be reaching for time and time again. A striped shirt and boat shoes.
Depending on your enthusiasm for this sailor trend you might want to err on the side or everyday nautical. But if you like the stripes, anchors, rope bracelets, bermudas, and you’re planning your next trip out to sea – why not!
Classic Summer Striped Shirt
When I think nautical I think stripes. When shopping for your typical summer striped shirt you want to look for traditional colors. If you want the classic and iconic striped shirt look for thinner stripes in navy and white or red and white. The striped shirt I’m wearing in this outfit has a classic shape with three fourths sleeve (for when it get chilly on the boat), a wide boat neck and a cute little anchor label on the sleeve. The style of shirt is very dependable as it goes with practically any outfit.
If you want to add some of your own style to this classic shirt then think of other hues such as mustard or turquoise, it has that summer feel but are a little more trendy. Also, try big and bold stripes, as this style makes a statement and are easier to wear.
Women’s Summer Boat Shoes
The second most important nautical item: boat shoes! These comfy, casual and popular shoes can be worn on and off boats. Yes, they are meant for water vehicles and added stability while on boat decks but they have turned into a fashionable shoe that can be worn with a variety of outfits.
Traditional boat shoes have a non-marking sole, a cushioned inside and come traditional colors such as brown, blue, red, and white.
If you want something with a little more pizazz, try metallic, polka dots or even ones embellished with pink glitter.
The easiest way to wear boat shoes is with shorts, like I have in this outfit. You can wear brightly colored bermudas or neutrals depending on the style you’re going for.
