What To Wear With An Army Jacket

An important clothing item you’ll need to get you through this fall season is an army jacket.

Of course you’ll also need a cute knit sweater, black ankle boots and, yes, a plaid skirt. I’ve managed to get these four fall essentials into this one look – creating a stylish fall outfit. As the fall season continues you’ll see more and more of these essentials coming together in outfits.

The stylish army jacket is perfect for fall! It’s not as think and heavy as a leather jacket or coat, it adds just the right amount of color, and it’s great for layering. It can add the perfect amount of coolness to any fall outfit.

There are a few things to keep in mind when styling this military inspired outerwear.

The army jacket can give off the feel of grunge. If you’re going for a grungy style than fantastic. Personally, I prefer to not look grungy and since you’re reading my blog I bet you feel the same way.

First off let’s focus on the jacket. There are many versions available for every style type. From camo to olive green and even some with contrasting leather sleeves. To make the army jacket versatile select a traditional style and color in a slightly larger fit for layering. Since there are no extra embellishments or accents of studs or leather, I’m able to wear this army jacket with lots of outfits during the fall season. The big pockets, brass buttons and patterned collar on this jacket give it just enough personality.

Next let’s discuss what to wear with the army jacket. In this outfit I paired it with a cute plaid mini skirt, cream knit sweater and black ankle boots. I don’t think this outfit could scream fall any louder. I went with stylish separates that when brought together created a balanced and cohesive look.

To avoid the grungy look that an army jacket may give off, I wore a cute light knit sweater instead of black or gray. I added a cute plaid mini instead of black distressed jeans and lastly ankle boots with a heels instead of combat boots. For a splash of color I added a mini salmon colored satchel.
