What to Wear in Italy When Sightseeing – A Stylish Outfit

Sightseeing in Italy
When traveling one thing you are going to be doing a lot of is sightseeing. This means you need to put together a look that is not only stylish but comfortable. You’re going to be walking a lot! Let’s talk about what to wear in Italy while sightseeing in Fall and Winter.
These photos were taken in the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill. After entering you’re able to have an unobstructed view of the Colosseum. That’s the building you see in the background.
We went in the off season so there wasn’t that many people around. It rained on and off but sightseeing in Rome was so much more enjoyable. We didn’t wait in any lines.
Once we entered we must have spent at least three hours walking through Palatine Hill and the Forums. Palatine Hill is one of the most ancient parts of the city so we needed enough time to take it all in. The area is vast with lots of twists and turns, so there is much to see. I’ll share more photos from this location in an upcoming travel post.
Now on to the outfit.
What to Wear in Italy When Lots of Walking is Involved
Like I mentioned we walked for hours. Up and down stairs, on cobblestone roads and dirt walkways. When sightseeing you need to wear appropriate shoes that let you go anywhere. You shouldn’t be restricted so this means no heels, not even heeled boots.
I suggest wearing flat riding boots. With these style of shoes you can walk anywhere and you don’t have to worry about ruining them. At the end of the day all you have to do is wipe them off and maybe buff them with a leather cleaner.
Riding boots are comfortable, stylish and perfect for the rain. More stylish than sneakers and more appropriate than flats.
With riding boots you need a pair of skinny jeans. In this sightseeing outfit I wore a pair of olive green jeans to add some color to the look.
I then added a cozy sweater but I made sure to layer a thin long sleeve underneath. If you get hot with so much walking just remove the sweater and tie it around your waist. It’s much less cumbersome than a jacket, if weather permits of course. If it’s really cold wear a coat.
For added warmth I wore a large scarf.
You want you hands to be free of carrying anything so it’s best to wear a crossbody when sightseeing. I opted for a mini crossbody. The one in this post is by ZAC Zac Posen. It’s out of the way, not too heavy and you don’t have to worry about leaving it behind.
Lastly, a pair of sunglasses and pretty accessories finish off the look.
The accessories in a sightseeing outfit make the look. I would advise you to pay close attention to them. Choose your accessories wisely and wear earrings, rings and bracelets that match your entire outfit. Your scarf is included in this too.
Hope you like the pictures and thank you so much for reading! <3
Stay Stylish,

I have a phobia of wearing a cross body bag when on holiday, i somehow think it will be pick pocketed in those crowded touristy areas lol. You look stylish as always. I love the sunglasses.
