How to Make a Bed Stylish
Have you ever had trouble putting items together to create a cohesive and stylish look?
If so then this post is for you! With the help of The Dream Bed™ I’ve put together a simple 5 step guide to styling your bed.
How to Make A Bed Stylish in 5 Simple Steps
If you want your bed to look like a luxurious hotel bed, then you need to keep these five-bed styling tips in mind. It was not until this month that Peter and I decided to upgrade our bedroom from less than desirable to fancy chic.
While shopping for our bed, bedding and accessories I kept these five tips top of mind to make sure I had a bed that looked put together and stylish.
Most likely you will not purchase everything in the same store, so these tips come in handy when shopping.
1. Pick a Color Palette
I know you have the picture of your perfect bed in your mind. Along with that perfect bedroom comes the perfect color palette. Decide on a color palette because everything you purchase will be based on the color palette.
For color inspiration, I go to Pinterest and search “color palette.”
Do you want a brighter bedroom? Darker? Pastel? Monochromatic?
Decide on the style you are going for and select a palette that matches the style. For example, Peter and I love the chic, minimal design in dark hues. We went for a darker color palette, black, shades of gray and white.
Anytime I saw an item I liked I first considered the color and if it would fit with our color theme.
2. Add Texture
Tip number two on making your bed stylish is texture! Having your sheets, comforter, pillows and throw all made of the same fabric is bland. You need to add some variety to create interest.
For example; In my bed I added two fur pillows, a fur throw, and two patterned pillows made of a thicker fabric.
These textures break up the white and add dimension to the otherwise would be a boring bed.
3. Add Color
You can add color and still be subtle or add bright, fun color accents as well. Make sure you have one strong color in your palette that you can use in your accents.
I added the dark gray pillow for my pop of color. The gray pillows coordinate with the trim in the lampshades.
Extra tip: make the colors on your bed match other items in your room for an overall stylish bedroom.
4. Add Plenty of Pillows
Hotels always add more pillows than needed. To create that extra cozy feel, you’ll want to have at least four pillows on your bed. I have eight pillows. Four pillows are decorative, and the other four are ones we use.
5. Add Layers
This goes in line with the pillows. Adding layers to your bed make it cozy and stylish. In addition to your flat sheet add a comforter. On top of the comforter add a throw or a quilt. This last layer is the one that seals the deal.
I also change the top blanket according to the season. Since it is fall going into winter, a fur throw is perfect.
