What inspired you to pursue fashion?
I didn’t always know that I wanted to be in fashion. When I first started college, I thought it would be fun to be a buyer because I loved shopping. But when I would shop, there would always be something missing or a detail that I wanted to change on the garment. I soon decided that it would be more interested to actually design and create the clothes. When I took my first sewing class, everything clicked and fell into place.
Scarves have been an enduring fashion accessory for hundreds of years, each scarf as dynamic as its creator and desired by many, myself being one of them. Ranging from polished and sophisticated to endearingly exotic, silk scarves offer the opportunity to accent your favorite outfit with an adventurous sense of personal style. Worn around the neck or as a head cover, scarves protect modesty or promote attention.

What inspired you to start designing jewelry?
I started designing jewelry about five years ago while I was working as a yoga teacher, just as a fun, creative outlet. But I soon found myself obsessing over making jewelry… After a while, it was all I could think about and all I wanted to do, so I started doing jewelry full time and am loving it!

I had the wonderful opportunity of interviewing fashion and lifestyle illustrator Jessica Durrant from Atlanta, Georgia. I fell in love with her illustrations from the moment I saw them. Her watercolor paintings are whimsical and a joy to look at. Illustrators play such an important role in the fashion industry, the very base of fashion designing is illustration.
