The Essentials to a Stylish Winter Travel Outfit

What to wear to Italy in November - stylishlyme.com

A Travel Outfit for Venice

Traveling to Italy in November has many positives. Your travel outfit consists of stylish boots, cozy scarves and coats, no lines at museums, hot wine (delicious by the way), Christmas decorations and chestnuts roasting on an open fire.

Italy in November is a delight.

Make sure you pack the right clothing for the season and you’ll be set. I previously shared with you my 5 travel essentials, these 5 items will get your packing off on the right foot. You’ll see those essentials as I share more outfits from this trip.

I should note that you’ll see posts from Italy every now and again. While in Italy Peter and I took thousands of photos so it’s taking some time to go through them all. With the busy holiday month we’ve only really gone through 20% of the photos. But hopefully you’ll see more of them soon.

This is an outfit I wore in Venice. We were there the end of November and it was cold. I was so happy Peter told me to bring gloves on this trip or my hands would have been freezing. This was the coldest place we visited while in Italy.

Putting together a stylish travel outfit for winter is actually very simple. The main items you need are a coat, scarf, and boots. These are the key items you’ll wear again and again. The rest is interchangeable.

Once you have those three items change your jeans, sweater and jewelry to create different outfits. You could wear blue jeans with a white sweater and chandelier earrings. Or you could wear a mustard yellow sweater with light gray jeans and hoop earrings.

When changing your sweater and jeans make sure the colors are in balance. As you can see in this travel outfit I went with a darker color palette. The lightest item in this outfit is the scarf as I didn’t want the entire outfit to be so dark.

Your sweater and jeans must match the boots, coat, and scarf because those are your base items. So make sure you select a color that is easy to work with.

Also, I would suggest not selecting a statement coat as your sole outerwear option. When traveling if you’re lucky enough to have the option to take two coats then fantastic, take a statement coat and a neutral coat. If not, just take a neutral coat.

If you take the statement coat you’ll look like you’re wearing the same thing for your entire trip. Since a statement coat is meant to be the center of attention in your outfit that’ll be the only thing you see in your travel outfits. You don’t want to look back at photos from your travels and be disappointed in your outfit choices.

Have you taken a winter vacation? I would love to know what you wore on the trip! Let me know, leave me a comment or send me a tweet!

Stay Stylish,
-V

PS: It’s almost the new year! Are you ready?
