Denim on Denim – Mixing Styles
I’ve become a great fan of denim on denim looks, from light wash denim to white or black. Combining different denim washes is an easy way to achieve an uber chic laid-back look.
Denim on denim doesn’t have to be the same colored washes in one outfit. Like a light wash chambray shirt with light wash denim pants. Only a few people have the ability to pull off these looks and still look stylish. If that’s the style you’re going for I would suggest adding a few varying elements like a belt or a dark overcoat. Here’s an example of what I’m referring to.
Since it’s still very warm here in California we can get away with wearing light colors and cropped denim jackets instead of coats. So for this denim on denim look I wore a light wash blue for the jacket and white for the jeans. Mix it up with denim separates in different colors. Also, denim doesn’t just means jeans, it can also refer to chambray, which have a denim feel but not made of the same fabric.
There are plenty of denim on denim outfit possibilities when you mix up the colors and fabrics. The styles are endless but personal style plays a huge part on pulling off a denim on denim look. To make sure you look your best, put together a look that you feel confident in above all else. Of course it also has to look balanced, don’t forget that.
Pismo Beach, CA
This past weekend Peter and I headed to the coast, Pismo beach, for a friend’s wedding. We drove up early to enjoy some gorgeous views and the best clam chowder in California from Splash Cafe.
Little did we know that the precise weekend we were in this classic California beach town was also the clam festival. You see, Pismo is all about the clams and their delicious clam chowder. If you’ve never been there I highly suggest you check out this cafe. The line usually wraps around the building but during the off season the wait is not that bad.
Have you ever been to Pismo Beach? What’s your favorite spot in this fun beach town?
