As many of you know, I‘m a proponent of timeless pieces and often I select classic over trendy. I love most how a classic piece can live in your closet for many seasons and how they become the pillars of your wardrobe.

I had the pleasure of interviewing Leslie Tessler, the designer behind the stunning and luxurious capes everyone’s lusting over. As soon as I saw the vintage inspired capes and learned more about her I knew I wanted to share her story with you.

You may not know about this up-and-coming designer, the lovely Joanne Hong who I met at February’s Magic Tradeshow in Las Vegas. But it’s obvious you soon will. She was selected as an up-and-coming designer which allowed her to show her collection at the Magic Emerging Designer Showcase.

Please enjoy my interview with Joanne and let me know what you think of her designs.

What inspired you to pursue fashion?
I didn’t always know that I wanted to be in fashion. When I first started college, I thought it would be fun to be a buyer because I loved shopping. But when I would shop, there would always be something missing or a detail that I wanted to change on the garment. I soon decided that it would be more interested to actually design and create the clothes. When I took my first sewing class, everything clicked and fell into place.

Scarves have been an enduring fashion accessory for hundreds of years, each scarf as dynamic as its creator and desired by many, myself being one of them. Ranging from polished and sophisticated to endearingly exotic, silk scarves offer the opportunity to accent your favorite outfit with an adventurous sense of personal style. Worn around the neck or as a head cover, scarves protect modesty or promote attention.

I am very excited to share with you my interview with Ali Mapletoft designer and creator of Age of Reason Scarves.

An interview with Tiffany from Taylor Kenney Jewelry. Find out what inspires Tiffany to create such beautiful pieces of jewelry and how she got started.

What inspired you to start designing jewelry?
I started designing jewelry about five years ago while I was working as a yoga teacher, just as a fun, creative outlet. Many of you reading this are most likely part of an online fashion community, uploading your looks and interacting with other bloggers may now be part of your daily routine. Bloggers like myself and thousands across the world are joining wonderful sites like Chicisimo.com. I had the fantastic opportunity to interview the creator of Chicisimo, Maria.

When did you get the idea to start Chicisimo and how did you turn that idea into reality?
I was based in San Francisco, had my own fashion blog (chicochuc.com in Spanish) and that’s where I discovered many people sharing their personal styles on blogs, flickr, etc. I always love to see how people dress when walking around on the street, so I was fascinated with the idea of finding this same movement on the web. Then I created Chicisimo, which is a blog that showcases personal styles and looks that I like. I began contacting my favorite bloggers and asking them for permission to share their pictures. The blog continued to grow and when we came back to Spain we started to think about how to improve the blog and adapt it to fit a growing audience. The feedback from the bloggers was full of ideas and we decided to change Chicisimo and create a community where bloggers and fashionistas from all over the world can share their style directly. Once this idea took hold, we really took the project seriously and we began to work hard on it. Last year, in July 2010, we officially launched as a community.
