I love pieces of jewelry that are unique, like they were made especially for you and you are the only person in the world that has one. Well those pieces of jewelry have to come from somewhere right. This is the reason for my next interview.
I came across these beautiful pieces of jewelry that were all very unique and different and I couldn’t help but want every single item! Alana Little is the creator and designer for Make Pie Not War, where every piece of jewelry is created with love and is made to make a woman (and sometimes man) feel beautiful and chic.
If you could describe yourself in one word what would it be?
passion
How did you come up with the name Make Pie Not War?
It came to me as I was joking with my bestie at 3am about cheesy t-shirt sayings. It came across to me hilarious, and stuck with me!
How do you create your designs? Do you have a process or do you only create when you are inspired?
I don’t have a normal process other than I make what I like! I find something I love and bam! The design comes to me in an organic process. I just put things together until I like it!
Were you always an artist? If not, how did you learn how to design and make jewelry?
I’ve been making jewelry since I was 10, but no, I wasn’t always an artist. My sister was always the “artist” and I was the “math and science” girl. So, it’s funny to my family and long time friends that I am doing this! I always wanted to be artsy, but never really felt like an artist until I met the love of my life, Cameron and he gave me the confidence I was lacking! I call him my muse… haha.

Every item of jewelry or clothing makes women feel a certain way, how do you want women to feel when wearing your pieces?
Great question! I get emails or have conversations with my customers about how they get a package in the mail and open up a mpnw piece and put it on straight away and it makes them feel gorgeous and chic. That’s exactly what I’m looking for. I want women to feel like they’re put together, chic, and… beautiful!
How much time do you spend designing/making jewelry? What does your work space space look like?
I use all my free time that I have to either making, selling, or some kind of work on mpnw. I had a baby a year ago, and time is now of the essence for me. I have to be more efficient now, which is not my personality at all! My work space consists of my “box of tools and jewels” where I keep most of my components and tools, but I also have a very manly workbench that my husband got for me from Lowe’s… lol. It’s awesome! I love how I have chain, pearls, and crazy feminine things on top of this uber manly bench.
How would you describe your brand, the underlying essence that is Make Pie Not War?
MPNW is an eclectic handmade jewelry company that makes jewels for the radical lady (men too…). We use vintage and handmade components to achieve a look that is uniquely, Make Pie Not War. The essence of MPNW is to make women (and men) feel gorgeous, unique, and chic. We work individually with our customers; we strive to make everyone happy. We love what we do and we hope it comes through!
If you could collaborate with any designer who would it be and why?
Karl Lagerfeld. He makes yummy lady-like things right now for Chanel.
If you could travel anywhere in the world where would you go?
Milan for fashion week. They’re fashion is so avant garde and a little on the bizarre side. I love it.
What makes you StylishlyYou?
I keep it classic with a slight twist. Yves Saint Laurent said it best: “Fashions fade, but style is eternal.”

I hope you enjoyed this interview, if so please like and share this post to support individuals following their dreams.
